We're pleased to announced the arrival of Sagas of the North, a new community content program for Chaosium's award-winning Age of Vikings roleplaying game.
Here you'll find original scenarios, background material, mythology, stats for NPCs and monsters, and more, exploring mythic Iceland and beyond.
And if you'd like to create and sell Age of Vikings content yourself, we've got helpful Content Guidelines for sharing your work with the world, along with free creator packs of art, runes, maps, templates, and more.
The goal of the Sagas of the North community content program is to provide an easy-to-use process enabling you to publish your work quickly and simply, without unnecessary costs, so you can focus on what you do best, designing and writing great ‘use at the table’ content. Your work will be available for sale on the online marketplace hosted by OneBookShelf, making it available to fans of Chaosium, and especially Age of Vikings, everywhere.
You’ll find original scenarios, background material, settings, mythology, stats for NPCs and monsters, and more, exploring the mythic Iceland and beyond. Read our content guidelines for what is and isn’t allowed in Sagas of the North.
As with all of our fan-driven programs, its success will be reliant on a thriving community of creators and a growing number of titles available to our community to facilitate play at their table.
Creators can offer their work free of charge, set a price, or offer it as pay-what-you-want. Previous community content initiatives have seen significant success, with many titles achieving 500 sales at DriveThruRPG.
Chaosium runs several community content programs that enable fans to self-publish material for their tabletop role-playing games, including Call of Cthulhu, Runequest and Pendragon.
Sagas of the North, as with our other community content programs, provides you with access to knowledge, support and tools to enable you to create and publish your ideas.
We encourage you to write material covering the Commonwealth period and have your adventurers raid and trade across the wider world. Choose a setting, myth, saga or other aspect you are passionate about!
Your first step is to read the Sagas of the North Content Guidelines and FAQ (frequently asked questions).
Have a look at the DriveThruRPG community content program page and our creator resources at DriveThruRPG, which include the Guidelines, Templates and Art Assets.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Chaosium’s Community Content Ambassadors and the Creator community using our community portals, or for more specific guidance, the Sagas of the North Creators Circle Facebook group (coming in Feb26), or message a Chaosium Community Content Ambassador directly;
After creating your content, go to your account page and look in the “My Content” section. You can use the “Add a new title” link after you agree to the Community Content Agreement.
Once content is published, it can be found with the rest of the Sagas of the North. You will be able to check your sales history, view reviews, and check on book royalties using your Account page on DriveThruRPG. You then get a 50% royalty whenever your title sells. The My Money section of your Account page will allow you to withdraw royalties via PayPal, or you can spend as site credit on other titles available on DriveThruRPG or any of its sister sites.
